    Question Ellipsis of prepositions

I heared that the current English users omit prepositons when it relates with place/time/manner

    for example

He has no place to live (in).

    She walked (for) ten miles.

    We talked (for) an hour.

I want to do it (in) my way.

also, they do not when it is formal or not place/time/manner

    for example

I have no one to turn to.
This room doesn't seem to have been slept in.

I wonder why this is happened and want to see more examples about this!

    Thank you!

    :)

We talked (for) an hour. This is better with the proposition.

I want to do it (in) my way.

This room doesn't seem to have been slept in. These examples wouldn't make sense if the prepositions were omitted.
