Hello,

I'm doing some creative writing. As a non-native, coming up with a title that sounds good or interesting in English can be a bit of a challenge because it requires more than just English language skills. Is "Rag to riches: a dress maker's story" OK as a title? And is it appropriately stylised (with a colon and all)?

Thank you.

Hello,
Is "Rags to riches: a dress maker's story" OK as a title?

I have always heard/read it with the final "s" after "Rag". That said, the title will be OK if the story does deal with a dress maker, but not if it is about, say, a hunter ;-).

'Dressmaker' is a single word, as in your title — not two as in your text.

Yes, "rags" with an "s". I realised the mistake after I clicked Submit. I didn't know how to edit my own post. And "dressmaker" too. Sorry.
