As (it) becomes clear, Chisman's work was about both change and continuity.
As (it) seems clear, however, that's not likely to happen any time soon.
Are these sentences are OK with or without 'it'? Because I have seen some sentences begining without a subject after 'as' (e.g. as can be seen in the figure below/above).
