    slip and slide

    Dear teachers,

Both "slip" and " slide" can mean " to move without being noticed". My questions is : Can I replace the word "slipped" with the word " slid" in the following sentence?

She slipped out of the room.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you in advance.

    Jiang

    Re: slip and slide

It could, though 'slipped' is the natural choice to me.

Additionally, with regards to "the natural choice" for that context, here's why:slip as in, unseen or undetected, as in a woman's undergarment, a slip.

slid as in, move smoothly, as well as move quickly;e.g., the player slid into 3rd base.
