I'm working on an essay for the topic Communication Using Technology. I want to test out my introduction because most people say that it's the hardest. And if you don't mind, i will continue adding paragraphs after each paragraph. Please give me some feedback, because I want to know if there's anything I should improve. Thank You! 
Here's my intro paragraph:
Technology, the one thing that has helped us over the years,is also an essential piece in communication. Over the centuries, technology has developed and taken on many forms. Now, there are phones, but cell phones are common as well. We also have email, short for electronic mail. In addition to those two forms of communication, there are many social networking websites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc), where you can message someone in the blink of an eye. I believe that people are relying too much on these new forms of technology. Nevertheless, these forms of communication are rather convenient, and are helping us in everyday life.
