    before - past perfect necessary

    She jumped nearly 5 metres. Nobody had done it before.

    Is the past perfect necessary when we have the word 'before' specifying the time when it happened?

    Yes.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
