I have never come down (to have breakfast) before 8.

    Hello,

Does the Present Perfect work in the following sentence? Or is the Present Simple a better option?

"I'm not a morning person. So I have never come down (for breakfast) before 8."

    OR

"I'm not a morning person. So I never come down before 8."

Is "for breakfast" needed to make the sentence clearer?

    Thank you.

    Nawee

Either tense is fine, depending on context and what it is you want to say. "I never come down" speaks of habit. "I have never come down" describes past behavior.

Yes, you need to specify what one is "coming down" for.
