    show and shows

    Mental status exam ( shows show ) depression and memory loss.

    Could you give me the rule for show and shows? I chose shows. Is that correct?

    It's not a rule for 'show' and 'shows'. For all verbs, it's a matter of whether the subject is singular or plural. Here, 'mental status exam' is singular, so the verb is 'shows'.

    I have not heard of a 'mental status exam'. Where did you find this expression?
