sent him to lschool to earn

    Can one use

    a. To learn to read and write, his parents sent him to school.
    b. His parents sent him to school in order to learn to read and write.

    instead of

His parents sent him to Germany to learn German.

I think in (a) and (b) his parents are going to learn German!

    Many Thanks.

There is no mention of German in (a) or (b).

Re: sent him to lschool to earn

    Thank you and sorry!
I changed my original question and forgot to change the second part! I am really sorry!

The question was supposed to be

    Can one use

    a. To learn to read and write, his parents sent him to school.
    b. His parents sent him to school in order to learn to read and write.

    instead of

    a) is quite unnatural but if it were to be used, it would be ambiguous.
    b) It's potentially ambiguous but common sense would dictate that it's obvious that it's "him" who is being sent to school to learn how to read and write.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
