    in sports, whats the difference between ranking and standings?

    Ranking's not permanent IMO- it changes over time. Ranking is the position a player has worldwide in a sport like golf or tennis. No position is permanent in sport, is it?

    PS, please be patient- there are many questions and people come in from different time zones, so you may have to wait a bit.
