    cycle through a line

Can anybody tell me what does layup stand for in this context?
And what does cycle through means in this context as well?

"We began experimenting with the idea that increasing repetition could unlock creativity and individuality in our own teaching worjkshops and applied this idea to an activity called the "Strong Voice" layup drill.(...) They cycle through a line playing the roles of teacher, student and coach (...). (...) we asked people to go through the line two or three times. What we saw was people doing something and thinking about it at the same time. (...)

    Thanks!
