    Yes. Perhaps you could check a few dictionaries and find out what the difference is. Post again when you think you know, and we'll comment.

    Collocation is used with these words- we talk of toxic waste for the dangerous chemicals produced by industry, but snakes produce venom or poison, while cyanide is a poison.

    With words with a similar meaning, it is a good idea to search a corpus (a specialised language database), which will provide real examples of the words or phrases you're interested in.
