    So vs. Such

    Hey there!

Yesterday I was studying So vs. Such for a class and I came across somehting I just couldn't explain. From what I know, we use SO + ADJECTIVE/ADVERB and SUCH + NOUN (even when preceded by ADJ/ADV). Am I right? If so, how would you explain the use of 'so' and 'such' in these statements:

    There are so few people!
    They are such little insects!

    Can anyone help me, please?

such + (adjective or adjectival phrase) + noun
    so + adjective/adverb
    so + few/little/much/many (+ noun)

In 'little insects', little is an adjective.
