Hi,

Do you say: "The festival is in a field" or "on a field".

Thanks.

I would use "in". Please enclose the phrases you are querying in quotation marks to clearly mark them out from the other words in the post. Remember to start every sentence with a capital letter and end every sentence with a punctuation mark. Yes, "Thanks" constitutes a whole sentence.

I agree with emsr about the festival. In addition, when a baseball player is playing, he is on the field. The preposition depends on a variety of things.

I agree with Mike and ems.

Generally, those taking part in an organised sport with a marked-out playing area are on the field.

However, 'My two sons are playing football in the field behind our house'.
