    plz elaborate the meaning and use of this sentence " I am to go there" = I should go there or I must go there. "you are to do that work" = I should do that work or I must do that work.

    The meaning of that phrase is that the speaker/writer has been ordered or is at least expected to do that action.

    I am to be home by 10 0'clock.
    I am to report for duty on Monday.
