    Are these sentences correct with the given meanings:

    1-In this place, they served a good steak.

    Meaning: In this place, they served good steaks.

    2-He writes
    a good short story.
    Meaning: He writes good short stories.


    3-He wrote a good short story.

    Meaning: He wrote good short stories.

    They are correct.

    Note that in #1 the place is now closed or they no longer serve good steaks.

    In #3 he is no longer alive or no longer writes good short stories.

    For number three, this is just a statement. He wrote one good short story. We cannot tell if his is alive or if he is still writing, but he could be working on another short story at the present time.
