    reported speech with Should

    Which is correct :
    "You should work harder if you want to graduate early."

    He said I should work harder if I want to graduate early.

    He said I should work harder if I wanted to graduate early.

    If you want the second, "He said I should have worked harder if I wanted to graduate early.

    He said I should work harder if I wanted to graduate early. That is also fine. The reporter has decided to backshift; there is no backshifted form of should.

    He said I should have worked harder if I wanted to graduate early. This is not a reported version of "You should work harder if you want to graduate early".
