    Sentences

Some new questions for you guys!

Now he doesn't smoke at all because he has a bad health, but there was a time when he used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day.

They had to reduce the price in order to sell the house so quickly.

We hope that by the time our children's children grow up there won't be any wars.

The house was built in eighteenth century and since that time it has been looked after so well, that it looks gorgeous.

The more warm days are in summer, the more it will be vegetables and fruit in autumn.

    Are they correct?

    Thanks.

One tiny error - a word which doesn't need to be there.

They had to reduce the price in order to sell the house so quickly.

We hope that by the time our children's children grow up there won't be any wars.
Tiny error again - you need a comma somewhere.

The house was built in eighteenth century and since that time it has been looked after so well, that it looks gorgeous.
Guess what?! Tiny errors - you are missing a word and you have excessive punctuation.

The more warm days are in summer, the more it will be vegetables and fruit in autumn.
Ah. Several errors. Read it carefully and try again, especially the second half of the sentence.

    Are they correct?

    Thanks.
See above. I have told you if they're right or wrong and given you a hint. See if you can work out the problem yourself. In the main, they were very good (with the exception of the last).
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Sentences

Here's a tip about using the forum, Dolly: please ask unrelated questions in separate posts, with a title for each which inludes a word or phrase which is being asked about — such as 'Now he doesn't smoke', 'They had to reduce the price', 'The more warm days are in summer' etc.

    Dear emcr2d2,

I have thought about it, here my ideas:

    1) "when" is extra?
    3) a comma before "there" is needed?
    4) in the eighteenth? Comma is extra
    5) The more warm days in summer are, the much vegetable and fruit in autumn will be.

What do you think about it?

    4) in the eighteenth? Comma is extra. Yes.
    5) The more warm days in summer are, the much vegetable and fruit in autumn will be. No, try again.

    1) is the article before "bad health" excessive? It is unnecessary.

    How did I do?
