    a quote

    Hi,

I remember I heard a nice sentence (maybe a famous quote) but I can't remember it now. Can you help, please?
The meaning was something like this:
"If you don't like something for yourself, don't like it for others."

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

    Re: a quote

    Thanks very much.
I think it comes from the Bible, doesn't it?
Is "unto" the old form of "onto"?

    Re: a quote

It's sometimes called the Golden Rule.
There is a brief discussion on the topic here: Do unto others as you would
And a much more exhaustive discussion here: Golden Rule - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
… "unto" is an archaic form of "to" or "towards". "Do to others as…", "Act towards others as…"
