    prepare for your assignment early

Does ' prepare for your assigment early' sound ok? If not, what is a natural way to say it? Please help me to express the following ideas more naturallly in English. Thanks in advance.

You should prepare for your assignment early. That means, start early for your assignment, such as your essay. Don't start your eassy the night before the due date.
