Which is correct:

1-He hit the target twice as much as I did.

2-He hit the target twice as many times as I did.

Obviously, what is being compared is the number of times.

Gratefully,
Navi

Thank you Rover.

'He hit the target twice as often as I did.'

Wouldn't that imply frequency?

Let us say we went to the shooting range. I fired one shot and hit the target once. He fired ten shots and hit the target twice. Would you say that he hit it twice as often as I did?

Gratefully,
Navi.

Wouldn't that imply frequency? That's what you asked about: 'the number of times'.

Let us say we went to the shooting range. I fired one shot and hit the target once. He fired ten shots and hit the target twice. Would you say that he hit it twice as often as I did? This is not comparing like with like.
