    Post Is the beer up?

    Dear teachers

Am I right with the following interpretations?

    'Is the beer up?'

= Is the beer ready to go? (considering you're going to parties to which you have to take your own drinks)
= Is the beer ready? (by ready I mean at the right temperature)

    Thank you

    Re: Is the beer up?

It seems that line is not common in North America.

I've never heard it in BrE either. Offroad, where did you find it?

On a radio programme, a comedy show, can't remember exactly which, but it was from the BBC. It seemed someone drove to a supermarket and after he got home, his friends asked if the beer was up.

Did he live in a flat above the ground floor? I wonder if his friend meant "Have you brought the beer up(stairs) yet?"

    Re: Is the beer up?

Unlikely because his friends greeted him as he left the car with the beers. Maybe it's a local line. From the context, those are the only explanations I can think of at the moment.

Could you give us a link to listen to it, and see what we can make of it?
