    Hello, teachers.

    What is exactly meaning of "Dummies"?
    In, for example:"Building a Web Site For Dummies."
    Is tyro OK?

    A dummy is a stupid person or a fool.

    The books 'for Dummies' are basic guides from the very beginning, assuming no prior knowledge, for those who are happy to admit they are complete novices in the subject.

    'Tyros' is a rarely-used word, which would not be understood by most of the people they are aimed at — defeating their object.

    I have several, and am not offended by their titles.
