    her first major role

1-Director James Thomson decided to cast her as Stella in the revival of 'A Streetcar Named Desire', her first major Broadway role.

    Does this mean
a-her first role was that of Stella in the original 'A Streetcar Named Desire'
    or
b-her first role was that of Stella in the revival of 'A Streetcar Named Desire'

    or is the sentence ambiguous?

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

B is the correct meaning. "...in the revival of 'A Streetcar Named Desire,' which was her first major Broadway role. ('which was' is implied)

I don't think there is any way to interpret that sentence as stating that she starred in the original production.
