Neither are you/neither do you

Which answer is correct? The auxiliary in this sentence is "to be", so according to grammar, unless I am mistaken, the answer should be "Neither are you", but it somehow sounds better to my ear when I say "Neither do you". I am not sure, please help. Thank you.

A -You are not looking your best today.
B -Neither do you.

You should go with the grammar on this one! "Neither are you" is the only acceptable answer here.

If the auxiliary verb "to be" is present, then it would be in this type of response also.
The same is true of all auxiliary verbs, like the modals:

A: I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse.
B: So could I.

A: I should go to bed now.
B: Yeah, so should I.

All other instances where a verb doesn't take an auxiliary, you should use 'do' in the type of answer here.

A: You look great today! (no auxiliary)
B: So do you!
