a Question about Techniques and Strategies

    Hi all,

I want to ask a question to you. Which techniques and strategies do you use while you are teaching vocabulary? Could you mention about them?

    yours sincerely,

    ibrahim

A good way of reinforcing vocabulary is to put two chairs at the front of the classroom. Each side has a representative seated at the front (eyes away from the board). Teacher writes word on board; students shout out definitions/clues (but not the word of course). Winner is first to guess.

Another one - useful as a filler - is Pictionary. Call one student to the board and give them a word (sotto voce or on a slip of paper). They have to draw on the board and the class have to guess. (You could make this into a team game if you like, but it's interesting enough without the element of competition - and if you have 5 minutes to fill you don't want to waste 3 of them setting up a game.

Suh, please note the amendments I have made to your post. As a teacher, it is important that your posts contain as few errors as possible because learners will notice that you are a teacher and they will assume that almost everything in your post is correct.

Remember to put a space after every full stop. We do not join sentences with two full stops as you did twice. Be careful with your spelling - three of your errors could have been easily avoided.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
