    shampooing my steak

    Hi,

    Please help with meaning of:
    "shampooing my steak"

"Labels can be helpful. A good, clear label can guide me to the right off-ramp or keep me from shampooing my steak. Likewise, labels can provide a quick and useful shorthand for understanding what a person does, or who she is, or even what he believes is true about the world."

    Re: shampooing my steak

Shampooing my steak is an example of an extremely inappropriate and ridiculous thing to do, such as painting my daughter green or cutting off my nose to spite my face, to use an idiom.

A good label can tell you which road to take. A good label can tell you how to wash your new shirt. A good label can tell you not to use shampoo to clean food (a steak in this case). This is humor of a sort as people generally do not use shampoo (a type of soap) on food - but, a good label with clear instructions will advise people that shampoo is, depending on the type of shampoo, to be used on your hair or on your carpet.
