    for content

1-This movie was shortened for content.

What does 'for content' mean in this sentence and more specifically what does 'for' mean in it?

Does it mean 'because of', 'as regards' or 'to improve'?

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Re: for content

It means they censored certain parts of the movie, to make it suitable for display in a public audience. For instance, they are not going to show nudity or sex scenes in a movie they show on an airplane.
