prefer (doing) X to (doing) Y or prefer (doing) X over (doing) Y

    Hello again.

Is the structure "prefer (doing) X over (doing) Y" acceptable to you?

I think I know that the structure "prefer (doing) X to (doing) Y" is proper and according to grammar rules of English.

    Thank you.

It doesn't sound natural to me.

So, it is not used in everyday speech.

The use of prefer X over Y is acceptable, at least in AmE. But I prefer "to".
