    what does this sentence mean?

    'If your first love was statistics,you probably wouldn't be studying or working in environmental or biological sciences. I am starting from this premise.'
    I'm not really geting what the second sentence means. Can anyone help me?

    "I'm starting from this premise" means I accept that what has just been stated is true and my discussion/argument will proceed from there.
