    past continuous and present cont.

    Hi,

Some people say that the Past Continuous with words such as "always" or "constantly" expresses the idea that something irritating or shocking often happened in the past. But in my opinion, it depends on the context. For example:

1- Everytime I dated with him, he was always giving me flowers, such a dear. I broke up with him, but I still love him. (There is something irritating or shocking, am I right?)

    My second question:

2- Why are you talking to me? (it may mean: The fact that you are talking to me irritates me. Am I right?)

    Thanks.

Excuse me, but who are such "some people"? If you want to discuss someone else's point of view, please state who they are.
Please be aware that I'm neither a native English speaker nor a teacher.

Those are links to web sites. They are not "the English grammar books".
