Does it sound natural to you? About "onset"

    Hi,
Is it OK if I say "Once the onset of rabies begins, there is no way to cure this disease. "
(I don't see any verb following "onset" in any article. )
    Thanks a lot.

Re: Does it sound natural to you? About "onset"

I think the onset is a point in time, not something that continues. So it does not "begin."

    I would use "occurs."

Re: Does it sound natural to you? About "onset"

"Onset" means the beginning of something, so the sentence "Once the onset (the beginning of) rabies begins" is repeating the same thing. You can say: "Once rabies begins, ..." or you can say "After the onset of rabies, ....".
