    I wish you didn't/I wish you wouldn't

    Hi,
    1. "I wish you didn't speak to your mother like that."
    2. "I wish you wouldn't speak to your mother like that."

    Are these two sentences correct? If they are, what is the difference then? In my opinion it might be that N1 we talks about a general situation and N2 a particular situation.
