People, when you say call ´er, does the /l/ become light?

In AmE most often you will hear "Did you caller?", if that's what you mean by light.

It does. This is a fairly general phenomenon in words that end with double /l/.

E.g.

full - dark
fuller - light
roll - dark
roller - light
tall - dark
taller - light,
bull fight - dark
bullish - light

But there are exceptions:

fill - light
filler - light
tell - light
teller - light.
