All of humanity is in the same itty bitty boat

    Hi teachers.

What is meaning of the following sentence:

"All of humanity is in the same itty bitty boat."

Is it mean human and animal are same and come from same process?

It could be many things. It could be a metaphor saying that every single person on earth is stuck here on the same little planet and we better make the best of it.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
