What does keep accounts mean?

From the time of the birth of this girl, I'm going to be her friend. I want to be her godmother. You should call her Betsey Trotwood Copperfield and she should be well brought up. Can you keep accounts and take care of a house?

I've checked it but I still can not understand the phrase "keep accounts" :(
My native languages is Arabic

I means to manage and keep track of the money that goes into and out of an account.

Thanks a lot :)
Now, I've just started understanding the meaning of it :)

But, Can I also replace keep accounts by manage a budget ?

So, the sentence will be "Can you manage a budget and take care of a house?".

I think manage a budget has a very similar meaning to keep accounts, doesn't it?

It's similar but I wouldn't say it was identical. I can manage a budget quite easily. You give me £50 and tell me that's all I have to spend in one week and I can make it last. If you asked me to "keep the accounts" for the whole household for a week, that would be different. I would have to note down all the income by all the people in the house, then all the regular outgoings, expenditure etc and at the end of the week show the amount of money that is left and where it all went.

" not a teacher"

It means to keep a record of your outgoings. For example You are thrifty and check all transactions in your bank statements.

It's not just a record of your outgoings. In order to keep accounts, you would have to record all income as well.

And you might not be thrifty. You might have a huge income and spend freely.
