    place of adverb of manner

    Hi,

1- a) Suddenly he woke up from his dream.
    b) He woke up suddenly from his dream.

    2- a) She spoke suddenly.
    b) Suddenly she spoke.

    3- a) She spoke softly.
    b) Softly she spoke.

4- a) A man jumped from the tree suddenly.
    b) A man jumped suddenly from the tree.

I know the choices 'a' are OK but could you please tell me the choices 'b' are OK or not?

    Thanks.

I don't find 4 b very natural. "A man suddenly jumped from the tree" would be OK.

I don't find 3b very natural in normal speech and prose.

I agree with 5jj about 3b and with bhai about 4b.
