    His watch

    Please would you correct my mistakes in the following sentence:

    His watch, which was stolen, was the present he had received from his parents when he obtained the doctor's diploma.

    It's grammatically OK, but it's not very natural.

    "The watch he had stolen was a gift from his parents when he became a doctor" is one possibility.

    On first reading, that could be taken to mean that he had stolen the watch.

    I'd drop the 'he/his idea (it's clear that it's his watch) and write, "The watch that was stolen was a gift from his parents when he became a doctor"
