    I can owe?

I have just listened to the Leroy Miller's song "Good time", but I can't figure out what's the meaning of this phrase: "That's only so much I can owe". What does it mean?
    Could you help me, please?
    Thank you
    Luigi

    Re: I can owe?

I wouldn't get too stressed about song lyrics. They frequently don't make sense or they are ungrammatical. I have looked at the rest of the lyrics around that phrase but I still can't work out what he means.

If anyone else wants to have a go, this appears to be the chorus:

"are you having a good time
with your friends and your french wine?
so now i'm gonna warn ya that there's only so much i can owe
are you having a good time? yea yea yea"

My take on it is that the singer was having a relationship with a person who was used to spending a lot of Daddy's money. The line in question seems to be a warning that the singer doesn't have the resources to pay for that type of lifestyle.

    Re: I can owe?

but is it grammatically correct to use "can owe" together? Either you should (have to, must) do something or you could do it? Isn't it?

Do you understand what "to owe" means?

    Re: I can owe?

Yes, so I think. Owe is "must, have to, should, owe, ought to, be to etc...". So if I owe, why I can owe?

I don't know where you got this definition from. Go to onelook.com and try checking it again. It is a verb.
