    Why not + ?

Out of the following three sentences only one is correct (according to the test-book):

    a. You look tired. Why not take a holiday?
    b. You look tired. Why not to take a holiday?
    c. You look tired. Why not taking a holiday?

The right one is A. Why is that?

    Re: Why not + ?

Because that is the idiomatic way of making an informal suggestion using 'Why not''.

Thank you, 5jj, but I didnít get it. Does this mean that any verb comes after why not should be in bare infinitive, please?

Yes. You can also open with 'Why don't you take a holiday?'
