    Usage of the word "Gotten"

Is gotten an accepted word? Or it is a slang usage?

Please provide examples of its usage.

Re: Usage of the word "Gotten"

It's not a word in BrE, except in 'ill-gotten'.

An American member will tell you about the word in AmE.

Re: Usage of the word "Gotten"

It's perfectly acceptable as the past participle of "got" in AmE. I believe it was normal usage in BrE until the 18th century.

It is in AmE. BrE speakers say 'This situation has got out of hand.'
