    tenses: Continuous and Simple

I am helping someone with their homework and the task is to underline the correct option in each of these sentences, but I think both are correc in each case. 1. We watched/were watching TV all evening. 2.My father was cleaning the flat while/when my mother was watching TV. Am I right? Thank you

I know, but I tjhink the task is wrong , because both forms are correct. That happens and it confuses learners. I want to make sure.

Ask us again when the homework has been marked, if there's something wrong which the teacher fails to explain satisfactorily.
