    difference between the words "housing" and "hosting"

    Hi,what's the difference between the words "housing" and "hosting" or between for example "I will host a friend at my home" and "I will house a friend at my home"?

    They are both possible. The first says you will entertain a friend at your home, perhaps for dinner or for cocktails. The second says he will stay (sleep) there.
