    What do you think?

Consider the indicative: 'It looks like something' or 'It looks <adjective>."

    "What" ?
I was used (from my school experience) to form with "How" but recently I have heard such question with "What" and I am confused.

Bob was giving you a clue, Pierce.

He asked 'What do you think?' not 'How do you think?'

Re: "How" or "What" does it look like ?

You can also ask 'How does it look?' - but the answer to that is an adjective.

    Examples:

    'How does it look?'/Dusty.
'What does it look like?'/An elephant.
