    McDonald's (Apostrophe)

    Hello,

I was reading a grammar book that says it's wrong to say: I'm hungry. Let's go to McDonald's! (It says I must use the word restaurant after it). But it's right to say: Let's go to Macy's!

Why is the first one not acceptable?

    Thanks.

It is acceptable. Ignore the grammar book.

There is nothing wrong with using "McDonald's" by itself. It is by far more common then "MacDonald's restaurant". I am fond of Jack Daniel's and feel no need to use "whiskey" after it.
