    Looking for a verb...

Hi all,I was wondering if there's any verb used in the following situation:You're going away for a business trip and you are leaving some precious stuff, such as jewellery, with a friend so that during that time they'll be minding them. Is there any verb for the action, or a noun for the thing you leave with someone to be taken care of or kept in a safe place for a while?

    not a teacher

    You could also say:
"I left a few valuables in safekeeping with a friend".
"I sent some valuables to a friend for safekeeping".

Note that 'safekeeping' does not necessarily mean keeping in a safe, although one might do that if entrusted with something.

    Re: Looking for a verb...

Afterthought: it wouldn't work for jewellery (except as a jocular usage if they're being lent to someone who's likelly to wear them), but the verb 'sit' has been extended from the original 'baby-sitting' to 'house-sitting'/'dog-sitting....).
