Hi,

Species

As you know the word can be pronounced in two different ways.

1. spi:Ði:z
2. spiːsɪz

Which one is the most used one? [Ði:z] or [sɪz]? :?:

I searched for it in the forum but
couldn't find a thread related to mine.

Thank you

In the phonemic notation commonly used in the UK, the word can be pronounce /ˈspi:ʃi:z/, /ˈspi:ʃɪz/, /ˈspi:si:s/ or ˈ/ˈspi:sɪz/d. The first two are more common in BrE than the second two.

I don't believe Ð occurs in English. So it's not really useful asking whether we pronounce things that way.
If it's anything like
/
ʃ/ as in 'ship', I'd say, AusE uses /s/ more often, as opposed to 5jj's comment.
