I write Edward V but read Edward the fifth.
I remembered 'King Edward 1st, Son of King Henry 3rd'.
Does it mean that I can say Edward fifth without any article?
Is it a mistake or a preference?
We write Henry III, Edward I, but we say Henry the third, Edward the first.
My mistake and most BrE speakers preference.
