    (Thank you!) Yeah

    Hi,

    Context:

In the Good Wife, American TV series, Cary went to his boss-Will , who owned a law firm, that Sterm was going to ask him to leave the firm, and work for him.

Will: He tries to poach you.

Cary: Yeah, and another 11. ... I am a team player...

    Will: Thanks, Cary.

    Cary: Yeah.

    Question:

I don't understand why Cary responded with "yeah", instead of you're welcome. Could you please explain?

    Thank you!

That "yeah" is just a short way to acknowledge the thank you.

    Re: (Thank you!) Yeah

I think maybe it is also a way of minimizing the significance of the "thank you" received.
