    coulnd't/can't/don't/didn't understand what you said

    Ex1. I couldn't understand what you just said.


    Ex2. I can't understand what you just said.


    Ex3. I don't understand what you just said.


    Ex4. I didn't understand what you just said.


    Q. Are they grammatically correct?


    And are the above sentences interchangeable?

    They are grammatically correct but not interchangeable.

    For me, 1 & 4 probably mean that the person couldn't hear properly or couldn't catch the meaning, while 2 & 3 may mean that the person understood the words but is struggling with the content- they might find it hard to believe, etc.
